One thirteen-year-old boy, Denim Cain, died from multiple stab wounds after a dispute outside a home in north Houston. The incident occurred Tuesday night and led to the arrest of a seventeen-year-old suspect.
Sergeant Jason Brown of the Harris County Sheriff's Office stated that deputies responded to a call on Bolton Gardens Drive near 8:30 p.m. Officers discovered Cain at the scene with injuries to his body. He was transported to a local hospital but pronounced dead upon arrival.
Investigators spoke with witnesses who identified the suspect as Quaesean Smith. Deputies located Smith a short distance from the scene and took him into custody. Police recovered the knife used in the attack during the search of the area.
Detectives reported that Smith was near his home when a group of juveniles, including Cain, confronted him. During the argument, Smith pulled out a blade and chased Cain, striking him several times. Smith admitted to the sheriff's office that he stabbed the boy following the dispute with the group.
Smith has been charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail. The sheriff's office has not yet determined the specific motive behind the initial confrontation between the group of juveniles and the suspect.
The case remains under active investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office as detectives continue to review witness statements and physical evidence from Bolton Gardens Drive.
