Residents of Harris County have a packed schedule of live music events over the next week, with a major shift in programming at Toyota Center. The venue, which is currently undergoing renovations and has surrounding street construction, hosts a series of high-profile performances starting Thursday. This schedule includes headlining shows by international acts and local favorites across multiple genres.
The concert series at Toyota Center opens on Thursday with electronic dance music producer John Summit. On Friday, the Mexican rock group Maná will perform as part of their "Vivir Sin Aire" tour. Doja Cat follows on Saturday with her "Ma Vie" tour. The Jonas Brothers conclude the weekend on Sunday with a show billed as "The Burning Up Tour All Over Again." The band's public relations team described the current tour as a celebration for both long-time fans and new listeners, offering a chance to experience the band's defining musical moments.
Other performances are scheduled throughout the week at various venues in the county. On November 4, the band Dinosaur Jr., fronted by guitarist J Mascis, performs at the House of Blues in Houston. The House of Blues will also host San Angelo band Los Lonely Boys on February 19. The group is currently promoting their album "Resurrection" after a period of fluctuating popularity.
Further down the line, The Neighbourhood will perform at Toyota Center on March 6. The band recently saw a surge in digital attention when their song "Sweater Weather" was named the most playlisted track on Spotify. The song also surpassed five million streams on the platform, becoming only the third composition to reach that milestone behind The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" and Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You."
The Heights Theater in the Heights neighborhood will host several acts over the coming months. Robyn Hitchcock is scheduled to perform on February 11. The musician released the memoir "1967: How I Got There and Why I Never Left" in 2024 and continues to perform psychedelic rock. The duo They Might Be Giants will appear at the Heights Theater on Tuesday and Wednesday of an unspecified week in the coming months. The group, known for its shift from 1980s alternative rock to children's music and the theme song for "Malcolm in the Middle," recently landed a Tony-nominated Broadway musical based on "SpongeBob SquarePants."
Swedish metal band Meshuggah is set to play the Bayou Music Center on April 30. The band's name originates from the Yiddish word "meshuggah," which means "insane." A member found the term in a dictionary of American terminology in the late 1980s and chose it because of its rough sound.
The upcoming schedule reflects a variety of musical styles, from electronic dance and rock to pop and metal. Venues in the county continue to book artists who have achieved recent milestones in streaming numbers or are returning to the stage after periods of inactivity or album releases. The series at Toyota Center serves as a central focus for live music fans in the area during the renovation period.
