Chubby's Public House will close for good on Saturday, Dec. 19, ending a four-year run in Midtown Bryan that drew a steady crowd of Texas A&M University students and locals.

The owners announced the decision on social media on Monday, stating they chose to "turn the page and start the next chapter." They did not specify the reason for the closure.

The venue opened in July 2022 at the North Park Shopping Center, taking over the former space of Master Yakiniku Korean barbecue restaurant. It sits just minutes from the university campus.

Chubby's menu featured stacked burgers, sandwiches, specialty hot dogs, and other bar bites. The owners said they hoped patrons would visit for one more meal and drink in the final weeks.

The Facebook post thanked the community for the "support, friendships, laughs, celebrations, and memories" shared over the years. The owners noted that while some days were challenging, the customers always showed up.

Local diners reacted with sadness to the news. One commenter wrote, "I was praying this day would never come! You have been one of my favorite restaurants." Another called the establishment home to the "very best burgers in town."
