The Minnesota Vikings have claimed the number one position in the NFL Week 8 power rankings.

This move places the Vikings at the top because the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs both lost their games on Sunday. The Vikings remain the only team in the league with an undefeated record.

Minnesota defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 16-10, in their most recent contest. The result extends their winning streak to six games. Despite the perfect record, the offense has produced only 125 points across those six games. That total equates to 10 touchdowns for the season.

The Vikings are currently ranked first in the league in scoring defense. They rank 23rd in scoring offense. This disparity is notable for an unbeaten team. The passing game has averaged a rank of 29th in yards per game.

Quarterback Kyler Murray has been a focal point of the offense. The team will face a difficult schedule over the next four weeks. They play at the Detroit Lions, host the Buffalo Bills, visit the Green Bay Packers, and play the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico.

The defensive unit is considered the gold standard in the league. Coordinator Brian Flores runs an aggressive scheme that has kept opponents at bay. The next four opponents will test the offense more than the Colts did.

At the bottom of the rankings, the Miami Dolphins have moved above the Los Angeles Chargers. The Dolphins earned their first win of the season against the New York Jets. The Chargers are the only team without a victory at 0-6. They were on a bye last week and face the Los Angeles Rams this week.
