The Milwaukee Brewers have never won a championship, but a 10-1 victory in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night puts that within reach. The team can clinch the title as early as Tuesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Robert Gasser pitched a dominant start in the offensive rout. The Brewers outscored the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 to take a 3-0 series lead. This puts the Rays in a position where they must win four consecutive games to avoid a first-time champion from Milwaukee.
The Rays earned their spot in the World Series by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. Junior Caminero hit a large home run to help secure the American League pennant. This is the Rays' first World Series appearance since 2020 and only their third in franchise history. They previously lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008.
The Brewers won the National League pennant by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. They won the series 4-0, with victories in Games 1 through 4. This marks the Brewers' first World Series appearance since 1982. Neither team has ever won a World Series title.
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, at 8 p.m. Eastern. The game will air on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo. If the series extends, Game 5 will take place on Wednesday, October 28, also at 8 p.m. Eastern in Tampa Bay. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will be played at 8 p.m. Eastern on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, respectively, in Milwaukee.
The Brewers won Game 1, 3-2, and Game 2, 5-4, to take an early lead. The Rays had won the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees in three games. They defeated the Yankees 3-0 in the series, with wins in all three contests. The Brewers had defeated the San Diego Padres 2-1 in the National League Division Series.
The Rays' path to the World Series included a 4-2 victory over the Guardians in the ALCS. The Guardians had previously won the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox in five games. The Brewers' path included a 4-0 sweep of the Dodgers in the NLCS, having also beaten the Padres in the NLDS.
