The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night to keep their pursuit of the NFC East division title alive. The victory marked the Eagles' fifth consecutive loss, extending their longest losing streak since 2016. For the Cowboys, the win provides a critical momentum boost before they return home for a two-week break.
Dak Prescott completed 212 passing yards and three touchdown passes, two of which went to CeeDee Lamb. Javonte Williams ran for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown, securing the win for the Cowboys. The offensive performance allowed Dallas to overcome a late deficit and control the game's final stages.
The Eagles' struggles are compounded by the absence of quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to blood clots in his lungs. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee started at Philadelphia, completing 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Philadelphia has a 3-6 record without Hurts since he became the starter in 2021.
The game turned in the third quarter when Dallas trailed 21-20. CeeDee Lamb caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Prescott in the corner of the end zone. Prescott ran in the two-point conversion to give the Cowboys a 28-21 lead. Brandon Aubrey later kicked field goals of 55, 27, and 24 yards to extend the advantage to 31-21.
Javonte Williams capped the scoring with a two-yard rushing touchdown. This marked the first 150-yard rushing game by a Dallas player since Ezekiel Elliott in 2018. The Cowboys finished with 204 total rushing yards. Dallas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown sealed the victory with an interception in his first game back from a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1.
Philadelphia's defense allowed 416 total yards and 25 first downs to Dallas. The Eagles have allowed at least 375 yards in each game of their current losing streak. Running back Saquon Barkley returned for the Eagles after missing two-plus games with a hamstring injury. He finished with 62 yards on seven carries, though he spent time in the sideline medical tent during the game.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame during the game. Lurie purchased the franchise on May 6, 1994. Under his ownership, the Eagles have won two Super Bowls. He gave a brief halftime speech but did not hold a pregame news conference, leaving coach Nick Sirianni to address Hurts' condition.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Williams' performance, noting his power and acceleration. Prescott stated that getting a division win on the road in a hostile environment was massive. The Eagles' coach, Nick Sirianni, said the team must get up and keep fighting despite the tough hands dealt to them.
The Cowboys will host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Eagles will travel to Washington for a Sunday night game against another struggling NFC East rival. Both teams remain in contention for the division, with the New York Giants currently leading the conference division at 4-2-1.
