President Donald Trump travels to Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday to support local Republican candidates. He is in the final phase of his midterm campaign tour.
Trump will campaign for Rep. Byron Donalds, who is challenging Democrat David Jolly for the governor's office. Jolly is a former Republican congressman who switched parties. Polls show Donalds leading, though the race remains competitive.
The current contest contrasts with the 2022 election, when Gov. Ron DeSantis won reelection by a margin of nearly 20 points.
The president is also expected to endorse several Republican congressional candidates. Sen. Ashley Moody is seeking to retain her seat in a special election against state Rep. Angie Nixon. DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate in 2025 after Marco Rubio left to serve as Secretary of State.
Daytona Beach is located in the congressional district of Rep. Randy Fine, a freshman member of the House. Fine was sworn in in April 2025 after winning a special election to replace Mike Waltz, who is now the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Florida voluntarily redrew its congressional maps before these midterms. Republicans currently hold 20 of the state's 28 House seats, a number that may increase due to the new district lines.
