Apple began rolling out the watchOS 27.3 developer beta on Monday. The update adds two new Audio Intelligence features that allow Siri to listen to conversations through the Apple Watch microphone. These tools, named Siri Recap and Live Rewind, are designed to help users recall details from recent interactions.

Live Rewind captures the last 15 seconds of audio detected by the watch. Users can double-press the Digital Crown to view a text snippet of that recent conversation. This function helps individuals catch phrases they may have missed or words they are unfamiliar with. Users can also ask Siri questions about the transcribed text or save the snippet to the Siri app for later review.

Siri Recap operates differently by generating high-level summaries of entire conversations. When this feature is enabled, Apple Intelligence automatically creates a title and key points after a conversation ends. These summaries appear in the new Siri app. The goal is to allow users to stay present in the moment while retaining access to important details later.

Apple released the Audio Intelligence Privacy Overview alongside the beta to explain data protection measures. The document states that raw audio is handled within dedicated hardware. Apple claims this audio is not saved as a file and is not accessible to the operating system, other apps, or Apple itself. If a user chooses to save a summary or snippet and uses iCloud with two-factor authentication and a device passcode, the data syncs across devices with end-to-end encryption.

The developer beta also supports expanded language options. These include global English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Apple is simultaneously releasing a redesigned Health app for testing in the iOS 27.3 developer beta. This app adds an Insights tab that provides summaries for heart, sleep, and fitness data throughout the day. It also includes a For You section with personalized recommendations and educational health content.

The features are available now for developers who have opted into the beta program. The audio processing happens locally on the device for the raw data, while user-saved summaries rely on the encrypted iCloud infrastructure described in the privacy document.
