Three people have been charged in the death of a man shot while walking on Deryll Street in Jackson. The Jackson Police Department confirmed the arrests on Thursday, marking a key development in the case that began last week.

The shooting occurred on Monday, Oct. 26. A dark-colored pickup truck drove past the victim in the 1000 block of Deryll Street. Someone inside the vehicle fired multiple shots. The man, whose name has not been released, arrived at Merit Health with multiple gunshot wounds. Medical staff pronounced him dead.

Investigators identified Myki Allen, 19, and a 14-year-old boy as the first suspects. They were arrested and charged with murder and drive-by shooting on Wednesday, Oct. 28. A third suspect, Jerome Williams, 52, turned himself in at the police headquarters on Thursday, Oct. 29. He faces the same charges.

All three defendants have appeared in court. Allen and the juvenile each received a $1.5 million bond in Municipal Court. Williams made his initial appearance on Friday, Oct. 30, and was also granted a $1.5 million bond. The court set these conditions to ensure the suspects appear for future hearings.

Detectives say the investigation continues. They expect to make additional arrests in the coming days. The department has asked anyone with information to call 601-960-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
