The American Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood, and the organization has just named a new executive director for its Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter.
The South Florida Region of the Red Cross announced on November 2, 2026, that Robert C. Hill Jr. will assume the role. Hill will oversee humanitarian aid, disaster preparedness, and community resilience programs throughout Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. This appointment places a new leader in charge of a chapter that serves a densely populated area prone to tropical storms and hurricanes.
Hill brings twenty years of experience in community health and nonprofit management to the position. He most recently served as vice president of community impact for the American Heart Association in Miami-Dade. In that role, he coordinated efforts among healthcare systems, schools, government agencies, and local businesses. His work focused on nutrition security, chronic disease prevention, and health equity.
Krista Coletti, CEO of the South Florida Region, stated that the organization is thrilled to welcome Hill. She noted that his passion for service and commitment to the community will strengthen the Red Cross mission. Coletti said they look forward to Hill building meaningful partnerships and empowering local communities to be more resilient.
Hill expressed his honor at joining the Red Cross to serve the Greater Miami and the Keys community. He cited his career experience in seeing what is possible when organizations unite around a shared purpose. Hill said he is excited to work alongside volunteers and partners to strengthen preparedness and support people during crises.
The new executive director holds a Master of Public Health from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Florida. Nova Southeastern University awarded him an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in recognition of his community service. He also serves as executive co-chair of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade.
The American Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that relies on volunteers and public generosity to perform its mission. The chapter in Miami-Dade and the Keys will continue to shelter, feed, and provide emotional support to disaster victims while teaching life-saving skills and supporting military families.
