Konecny returns to help Flyers beat Mammoth 6-3

Travis Konecny scored a goal and added an assist in his first appearance since missing more than three weeks with an injury.

The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the visiting Utah Mammoth 6-3 on Sunday night.

Konecny had missed the previous ten games due to a lower-body injury. He broke the scoreless run with his first goal of the season at 1:06 of the second period. He banked a shot off Utah goalie Karel Vejmelka to put Philadelphia ahead 2-1.

Later in the game, Konecny set up Christian Dvorak for a one-timer from the high slot that extended the lead to 4-1. The forward also delivered four hits while playing a physical style. Owen Tippett returned to the lineup after missing the last six games with an upper-body injury.

Matvei Michkov opened the scoring for Philadelphia with his 10th goal of the season. He became the first Flyer to reach that mark in his first 17 games since Konecny did so in 2023. Dvorak and Noah Cates each recorded one goal and one assist. Oliver Bonk added another goal for the Flyers, and goaltender Dan Vladar made 19 saves.

The win ended a three-game winless streak for Philadelphia, which stood at 0-2-1. Dmitri Simashev scored the first goal for Utah. Mikhail Sergachev added a late power-play goal, and Logan Cooley scored his eighth of the season with the extra attacker. Cole Knuble iced the game with an empty-net goal. Vejmelka made 15 saves as the Mammoth alternate wins and losses over their past eight games.
