Houston Outfielder Christian Walker Wins Fourth Gold Glove Award

Houston outfielder Christian Walker received his fourth Gold Glove award on Sunday. The honor recognizes the best fielders in Major League Baseball. Walker joins Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves, who also won his fourth career Gold Glove this season.

Walker has won the award in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Olson secured his previous three honors in 2018, 2019, and 2025. In the American League, Boston right fielder Wilyer Abreu claimed his third consecutive Gold Glove. This extends his streak of defensive excellence in the outfield.

The Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks tied for the most winners with three each. For Boston, center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela earned his second straight award, while third baseman Caleb Durbin won for the first time. Arizona's Gabriel Moreno won his second catcher's Gold Glove, his first since 2023. The Diamondbacks also added shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and right fielder Corbin Carroll as first-time winners.

Other notable winners included Braves utility player Mauricio Dubon, who took his third award. Second-time winners spanned the league, including Chicago's Alex Bregman and Pete Crow-Armstrong, New York's Cody Bellinger, Detroit's Dillon Dingler, and Milwaukee's Brice Turang. First-time winners also included Cleveland pitcher Tanner Bibee and Seattle second baseman Cole Young.

Voting for the awards is conducted by managers and up to six coaches from each team. Managers and coaches cannot select players from their own clubs. Since 2013, the voting has been combined with a defensive index from the Society for American Baseball Research, which makes up about 25% of the total score.

Winners receive bonuses based on the number of awards. Walker earned a $75,000 bonus for his achievement. Pitcher Tanner Bibee received $50,000, and Brice Turang took home $25,000.
