ChòpnBlọk will operate 115 total seats at its upcoming Memorial City location. This capacity makes the new site the largest of the restaurant's three Houston venues. The expansion marks the third physical location for the West African concept.
Chef Ope Amosu described the move to the Greenside Memorial mixed-use development as a homecoming. He noted that he grew up in Southwest Houston and spent his childhood in the area. "To bring something I've built back to a community that helped shape me is incredibly meaningful," Amosu said.
The new dining room will include a dedicated patio and a full-service food and beverage program. The space is designed to accommodate the restaurant's storytelling and cultural focus. Frank Ortiz, Chief Operating Officer of MetroNational, stated that the concept is a natural fit for the community at Greenside.
The restaurant first appeared as a pop-up before opening a food stall at POST in 2021. Its first brick-and-mortar location opened in Montrose in 2024. A subsequent expansion established a presence in downtown Houston. The new Memorial site will join these two existing locations.
Since its inception, ChòpnBlọk has received recognition from multiple organizations. These include Michelin, the James Beard Foundation, The New York Times, Eater, and Esquire. The planned opening date for the Memorial City location is next summer.
