The Milwaukee Brewers secured their first World Series championship in 44 years, ending a long wait with a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. The win concluded the series in five games and triggered immediate plans for a large-scale public celebration.

City officials estimated that approximately 400,000 people attended the events on Friday. The crowd gathered for a parade through downtown Milwaukee and a subsequent rally at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater near Lake Michigan. Fans occupied office windows and parking garages to watch the procession.

Manager Pat Murphy described the turnout as overwhelming. "I kept thinking I saw the same people over and over, and we were just going in a circle. There’s no way there’s that many people who live here," Murphy said.

Team captain Christian Yelich addressed the crowd at the rally. He recalled the physical toll of the celebration. "We’ve had way too many parade beers," Yelich said. "I took the trophy to the face, got a black eye. It’s all worth it. It’s for you guys. We should celebrate forever."

World Series MVP William Contreras joined the fans in chanting his name. "We win the trophy for you guys, for the city," Contreras said. The rally concluded with hitting coach Daniel Vogelbach performing a karaoke version of “Stacy’s Mom.” Hall of Famer Robin Yount rode onto the stage on a Harley Davidson previously owned by broadcaster Bob Uecker.

The franchise honored Uecker, who called Brewers games for 54 seasons before his death in January 2025 at age 90. The parade route passed a downtown mural dedicated to him. Ryan Braun led a cheer for Uecker during the rally. Yount closed the ceremony with the words, "God bless you, Bob Uecker."

Aaron Ashby, who threw 18 consecutive scoreless innings of relief during the postseason, spoke to the crowd. "For me and my teammates, this has been the most special day of our lives," Ashby said. "This is better than anything we could ever imagine." Paul Molitor, a Hall of Famer from the 1982 team, added, "Good things come to those who wait. We waited long enough."

The celebration began the previous night at Lambeau Field. Several players attended the Green Bay Packers game. Brandon Woodruff carried the Commissioner’s Trophy out of the tunnel in the second quarter, drawing a large ovation. Outfielder Sal Frelick performed a dive into the stands, an act he described as a long-held dream.

Milwaukee Public Schools canceled classes for Friday, allowing families to attend the event. Mark Diedrich, 76, attended with his daughter Kasey. He noted that his family had been fans since the 1980s. "You just never thought it would happen. But it did," Diedrich said. The Brewers franchise originated as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 and moved to Milwaukee the following year.
