A 2,069-pound pumpkin has arrived in Denton ahead of Halloween, ready to become an oversized jack-o'-lantern at the Quakertown Civic Center. Professional pumpkin carver Lenny Calvin will begin transforming it on Oct. 28, with visitors able to watch the carving before the finished display opens the following morning.

The attraction is a collaboration between Raising Cane's and the City of Denton, which are bringing the giant pumpkin tradition back for a second consecutive year. This year's arrival continues the seasonal display with a pumpkin that is heavier than the one featured in 2025.

Grown in Anoka, Minnesota, the pumpkin traveled to North Texas for its Halloween transformation. Its 2,069-pound weight exceeds that of Raising Cane's 2025 jack-o'-lantern, which weighed 1,910 pounds. The difference puts this year's pumpkin 159 pounds above its predecessor, giving the returning attraction an even larger centerpiece.

The carving is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Quakertown Civic Center. Visitors who want to see Calvin work on the enormous pumpkin can attend that day, ahead of the completed jack-o'-lantern's display. The carving and the finished attraction give visitors two stages of the pumpkin's transformation to see.

Beginning Thursday morning, Oct. 29, the completed jack-o'-lantern will be available for photographs. It will remain on display through Sunday, Nov. 1, allowing visitors to see the finished carving in the days leading up to Halloween, on the holiday itself and on the following day.

Both the carving and the subsequent display will take place at the civic center, at 321 E. McKinney St., Denton, TX 76201. That location will serve as the destination for those coming to watch the pumpkin take shape or returning to photograph the finished seasonal attraction.

The giant pumpkin joins Denton's broader October celebrations as the city embraces its identity as the Halloween Capital of Texas. Its monthlong festivities include spooky attractions, community events and other seasonal activities. With carving set to begin Oct. 28 and the finished display continuing into November, the returning jack-o'-lantern attraction adds another stop for visitors taking part in the city's Halloween celebrations.
