Four teenagers required hospital treatment after shots were fired at a Halloween gathering in North Nashville early Sunday morning. Metro Police confirmed that a 16-year-old girl was in critical condition, while three teenage boys sustained gunshot wounds. The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m., leaving scattered costume pieces along Jefferson Street as residents processed the event.
The party took place outside an abandoned building roughly one block from Krave, a local restaurant on Jefferson Street. Attendees numbered in the dozens or potentially hundreds. Police believe at least some of the projectiles originated from a vehicle, though they have not yet identified the specific suspects. Investigators are currently reviewing the scene to determine the sequence of events.
Brittney Finn, co-owner of Krave, stated that staff were cleaning up after the restaurant closed when they received an alert. Her cook and private security reported that gunfire had erupted and children were running in all directions. Finn and her team subsequently reopened the restaurant to provide a secure location for the teens. They coordinated with parents, arranged Uber rides, and distributed water to calm the high emotions in the crowd.
Darryl Heath, the restaurant’s security officer and a Marine Corps veteran, arrived at the scene to assist Metro Police. Heath noted the presence of yellow tape and spent shell casings on the pavement. He worked to manage traffic flow and help reunite separated children with their guardians. Some parents who arrived at the street scene had to turn their vehicles around to meet their children at the hospital instead.
Heath described the situation as horrific. He noted that his past experience, including the robbery and murder of his son years earlier, informed his response. He stated that he acted with the dual perspective of a parent and a security professional. Finn expressed pride in how her team managed the immediate aftermath and supported the families.
Metro Police have not released the names of the individuals involved. They are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 615-712-7463.
