The long-running procedural drama Criminal Minds will conclude its story with a twentieth season, according to showrunner Erica Messer. The network has confirmed the series will end, bringing to a close a narrative arc that began in 2005.
The first fifteen seasons aired between 2005 and 2020 on the CW. Paramount later revived the franchise for its streaming platform in 2022. Since then, four additional seasons have premiered on Paramount+.
Messer expressed gratitude to the cast and crew in a statement to Variety. She described the ensemble and fans as having an unbreakable loyalty that kept the show on air for twenty years. The team aims to celebrate the series' legacy with the final installment.
The upcoming season features the original core cast, including Joe Mantegna, AJ Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, and Aisha Tyler. RJ Hatanaka also remains in the lineup, while Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster return for the concluding arc.
No specific premiere date has been set for the twentieth season. Paramount has only indicated that the season is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027.
