President Donald Trump resumed his in-person rally schedule in Iowa and Kansas on Sunday, reversing a decision made less than 24 hours earlier. The Republican National Committee had announced that the two weekend events would be replaced by tele-rallies to reach voters more efficiently. A source familiar with the scheduling change said the in-person format was restored because the president loves his supporters. The source added that the president will hold back-to-back rallies in those two states on Sunday, alongside nearly 20 other tele-rallies planned for the final days of the campaign.

Trump has held more than 25 rallies in October alone, focusing on red states where Republican candidates face tough races. He traveled to South Carolina and North Carolina to support Senate candidates Darline Graham and Michael Whatley, whom he personally selected. Both candidates have struggled to generate excitement among local Republican voters. Trump told supporters in South Carolina that they are witnessing the biggest rallies in history. He urged the crowd to enjoy the moments, noting that they will never see such rallies happen again.

The president has asked voters to treat the midterm election as if he were still on the ballot. He argued that the opposition wants to undo the tax cuts and border policies his administration implemented. In a speech in Greenville, North Carolina, he said, 'Please pretend I’m on the ballot cause in a way I am on the ballot, because they want to do away with all of the tremendous things we’ve done.' This plea reflects his concern that few Republican candidates will want to invoke his name after the election is over.

Trump has leaned on familiar campaign themes while introducing new jokes. He frequently discusses tariffs, calling the word his favorite. In Lubbock, Texas, he said he had to change it to his fifth favorite word because he has said it so often. He also repeated a joke about Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique, claiming the senator rose 12 points in the polls after he mentioned it. Trump said the audience loved the bit, despite evidence suggesting the polling shift was not caused by the comment. He even applied the joke to Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton, suggesting Paxton’s body might not qualify for the same treatment.

The rallies have drawn dedicated fans who travel long distances to see the president. Blake Marnell, known as 'Brick Suit' or 'Mr. Wall,' took October off work to attend multiple events. He traveled from San Diego to Greenville, North Carolina, to be in the front row. Marnell said he likes political rallies the way other people like cruises. He believes Trump will hold more rallies before the 2028 presidential election, but he says the current midterm tour feels different because Trump is not running for office again.

Cindy New from Emerald Isle, North Carolina, attended the Greenville rally for the first time. She voted for Trump three times but had never seen him live. She said she wanted to see him once before the window closes. 'He can’t run again, they say, so I guess I gotta come while he gets close,' New said. 'I missed all of the rest of them, so I gotta come see him once. I don’t need to do it but once. One and done.' The event included an Air Force One flyover and a nearly two-hour speech.

Valerie Thivierge, a store owner in Fort Myers, Florida, also attended her first rally. She closed her Trump-themed store for the event. She said the rallies are part of her life and she wanted to see the president. 'This is our life. This is what we do all year long and I want to see him,' Thivierge said. Trump has described the events as a performance for his faithful, acknowledging that he spends two hours ranting and raving. He said there is a lot of love in the rooms he fills.

In a recent Oval Office appearance, Trump said the crowds are the reason he continues to speak. He noted that the effort is not easy. 'You have the crowds,' Trump said. 'There’s a lot of love in those rooms.' The final days of the campaign have been marked by both fondness and exhaustion for the president. In Daytona Beach, Florida, he said he thought the rally was his last and that he could finally relax. He noted that 28 days in a row of campaigning is a lot. He added that his voice is operating at about 49.2%.
